Montage Fun

In my Smokies Fall color report, I mention Mark Johnson and his website. I have been playing with some of his techniques in Photoshop and wanted to share them with you. Most are his Multiple-Exposure Rotate and Zoom in Photoshop. I talked a little bit about the in camera technique yesterday and showed you some examples. These examples today are all from photoshop.

These are just to wet your appetite for fun in Photoshop. When I teach digital imaging, I tell people that most people can do almost everything in Lightroom. That’s true, but it is fun to show people what you CAN do with Photoshop that you can’t do with Lightroom. It really depends on your taste and your creativity. I find that the more creative a person is and wants to stretch the boundaries of their art, the more likely they will need and use Photoshop. Word to the wise, Photoshop is not easily mastered. But don’t give up. The more you work with it, the better you get. Now there are great training videos online that really help (man, I wish they had been around when I started into Photoshop). Two great places to look are Lynda.com and Kelby Training. Kelby training is the brain child of Scott Kelby, one of the best photoshop users and teachers in the country. If you are serious in learning Photoshop, go to Photoshop User and join NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals). You don’t have to be a Photoshop professional to join and you get a cool magazine, access to the web and much more.

Until next time!
